From COD Wiki:König suffered from severe social anxiety throughout his life, often being bullied during his childhood. At the age of 17, he volunteered for the military.While he hoped to join as a recon sniper, his physical size and his inability to stay still made him an unsuitable candidate. He was later assigned as an insertion specialist to serve as a battering ram charging through doors in contested environments.During a mission, König took down an Al-Qatala cell in Berlin which was involved in human-trafficking. He breached the townhouse and eliminated all twelve AQ fighters inside. However, his sniper hood terrified the Urzik hostages who had to be convinced by the rest of his team to follow König to safety.By 2022, König became a contractor for the KorTac private military company.

Survivors now reduced to the walking dead as this mysterious illness spread directly from person to person.König had been sent initially to control the spread by subduing them by any means necessary. But as the bodies stacked and the end was nowhere in sight, his peers started to pull back. Succumbing to the fear of the spread.The last they saw of him was from the last departing helicopter, in which they watched as an undead sunk its teeth into König’s arm and sealed his miserable fate.Abandoned, left for dead, a rage flooded the soldier that was so potent it stirred the interest of a powerful being from a world far beyond his own. As the fog swept around him, König looked forward at the beacon of pale light that appeared in the distance - enticing him with the siren's call of escape.Steeling his nerves he stepped into The Fog. Willingly allowing himself to be embraced by the darkness.
